seeds for refugees

Seeds for Refugees is a grassroots non-profit based out of San Diego, CA. Currently, it is managed by Max Petrich and Jillian Black, two friends who are passionate about human rights. A $5 donation made to Seeds for Refugees gifts you a packet of our sustainable sunflower seeds. 100% of the proceeds from our seed sales go to the Save the Children Organization.

Save The Children, one of the most transparent and highly rated charities that exists today, was founded in 1919 and has worked in the Middle East for decades. Since 2012, they’ve led a large, complex response to the war in Syria, reaching children and families in besieged areas, refugee camps and host communities. Despite extreme challenges, they’ve already helped more than 3.3 million people inside Syria, including more than 2.1 million children. They’re doing whatever it takes to ensure children inside Syria are safe, cared for, and learning. From the start, they’ve worked to draw the world’s attention to this crisis, and they continue to call for immediate humanitarian access to those in need.

The Syrian war has created the greatest humanitarian crises of our time. Since this complex, violent civil war began in 2011, an estimated 400,000 Syrians have been killed, and more than 5 million registered refugees have fled the war-torn country. Half of those affected are children. Seeds for Refugees was created to raise funds for the victims of the ongoing tragedy in Syria and beyond.
